I am a documentary television producer looking for amazing stories and amazing ER doctors! This is our third season of the primetime TLC medical series, UNTOLD STORIES OF THE ER--a weekly series features real-life critical care doctors and their stories of triumph over the heart-wrenching, bizarre, mysterious cases they have encountered in their career. We bring their stories to life on the screen with artful (and medically accurate) recreations of the events as they unfolded, narrated by the doctor. One of the unique things about this program is that we track both the medical experience and the inner thought process of the doctor. The doctor gets to be a human being as he clues us in to his or her own struggles and anxieties as they solve a problem case that has presented itself. The best stories have a surprising medical remedy or some kind of twist as the case begins as one thing but ends up quite another thing entirely; we try to find a lesson learned, if possible. Sometimes these are humorous lessons, sometimes life-altering and dramatic. Stories can be inspiring, bizarre, morally complex, funny, touching or medically cutting-edge. The wide range reflects the real wide range of ER (and trauma care) events. With a few exceptions, events we portray should take place within one ER shift and inside the hospital, with one main physician who can narrate the story from beginning to end. The stories that are produced for the program will feature the doctor's interview and telling of the incident edited together with actors re-creating the experience, and, when possible, an interview with the patient as well. Additionally, because many of our stories happened years ago and doctors may not recall the patient's name or contact information, we implement a number of factual changes so that the privacy of the real patient may be preserved. I realize that the rules are quite strict on confidentiality, and we are committed to abiding by those rules and regulations. We need to finish shooting in August, so there is a bit of a mad dash for finding great stories. The show currently airs Monday evenings on TLC, 9PM PST. I will be following up with you in the next few days but if you are interested in sharing with us, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for your attention - I look forward to speaking with you soon! Laura Halperin GRB Entertainment 310-490-8454 laurahalperin@yahoo.com
